More on Bethel Lutheran’s Trip to Kisumu: New Playground
September 27, 2011 No CommentsThe construction work on the playground was sponsored by Emmanuel Foundation of Canada who had sent with the team arepresentative to be the lead engineer and installer. Darcy was the only member on the team whowas not a member of Bethel Lutheran Church proper, yet a strong member of Christ’s Church Triumphant. Kenya natives Kennedy and Walter put together an additional 6 local laborers who
joined hands with the Bethel team to erect this beautiful playground. The construction work took
the span of 10 days and its climax was the dedication ceremony, which marked the end of the
Bethel team’s final activity.
The dedication ceremony was conducted by Rev. Marv who also invited brief speeches from the
area Assistant Chief, Darcy (the installer), and Rev. Dennis Meeker the Director of CSC.
The area Assistant Chief in his speech assured the Point of Grace Academy community of good
security. He gave thanks for the kind of work being done by Point of Grace to the less fortunate
members of the community. The assistant Chief urged Point of Grace to continue offering
services of mercy without despair and that God’s hand will continue placing support to Point of
Grace. Pastor Marv presented the area Assistant Chief with a New Testament Bible and also one
to give to the area Chief, who was not able to attend.
Darcy (Emmanuel Foundation Representative) spoke and gave praise to God that the playground
was erected in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He confirmed that the work of God
manifested in the playground will serve its purpose by helping to nurture the children of God and
laying a foundation of faith and love into the little children.
The climax of the dedication service was marked with a dedication prayer by Rev. Marv and the
playground became officially sanctioned. It was then officially handed over to Point of Grace
Academy Director Lorna Meeker hence the children who attended V.B.S. were allowed to enjoy
themselves with the swings, slides, and many other stations of the playground. The ceremony
was concluded by a group photograph and other presentations from Bethel Lutheran Team at
around 3:20 pm.
